If you’re looking for a gift this holiday season that also gives back and does some good, take a look at the (RED) x Lokai bracelet, currently available for $18 until December 31, 2016. I picked mine up at Barnes and Noble last week, and I love it! If you aren’t familiar with Lokai bracelets, here’s the premise:
“The White Bead – Stay Humble – Carrying water from Mount Everest, the highest point on Earth, the white bead represents life’s highest moments. It’s those times when you’re feeling on top of the world, that it’s most important to stay humble.
The Black Bead – Stay Hopeful -Sitting directly opposite its white counterpart, the black bead holds mud from the Dead Sea, the lowest point on earth, signifying the difficult moments you experience throughout life. Even through life’s lowest moments, stay hopeful.
We provide the elements. You provide the story.
10 PERCENT of net profits will be dedicated to giving back to the community through a variety of charitable alliances.
Lokai is the only authorized ‘sold by’ seller of an authentic Lokai bracelet.”
I think we could all use a reminder like this from time to time, as the busy pace of life around us makes it so easy to forget to stay humble and hopeful. I’ve been having some extreme difficulties at work lately, and hope is the only thing that is keeping me going. I’m not in a position to tell them to take their job and shove it (oh, but I wish that I could…I fantasize my quitting scene approximately 235 times per day. Fact.), so hoping that things improve, or that I find another position and get to leave is all I’ve got at the moment. Hope. I love that.
If you purchase one of these (RED) x Lokai bracelets, $1 will go to funding life-saving AIDS medication in Sub-Saharan Africa. In 2005, more than 1200 babies were born every day with HIV; today that number is 400. Medication costing as little as .30cents a day can end mother-to-child transmission of HIV/AIDS by the year 2020.
Lokai will donate $1 to (RED) for each (RED) x Lokai sold between November 15, 2016 and December 31, 2016, with a minimum contribution of $300,000.
Happy shopping, friends! Let’s all work together – we can make a difference and make this world a much better place. The time is now.
