City Lights

I went to a work conference in Austin, Texas this weekend, and I could not have been more thrilled – I absolutely LOVE Austin, and any excuse to go there is a-okay with me. πŸ™‚ My meetings were held on the UT campus – giving me the chance to really see the grounds and all of the buildings…and man alive do I love that place! I wish I had a rich person around who wanted to support me so that I could just move there and attend classes forever more…how amazing would that be??! πŸ™‚ (if you are said rich person looking to support the educational interests of an eager mind, please send me an email – thanks! πŸ˜‰ )

After Friday’s meetings, I checked into the lovely Sheraton Austin at the Capitol, got changed, and headed out in search of food. After a mighty long walk in the blazing heat, I stopped/collapsed at BD Rileys Irish Pub on Sixth Street. This place was a good choice: good ambiance, good food, and good rum. What else could a girl possibly need? πŸ™‚

When I left BD Riley’s, I was looking for inspiration and trying to figure out where to go. Good thing I got a ‘sign’ ! πŸ˜‰

I stopped in here for a drink, because - with a name like Mooseknuckle, how could I not???!! πŸ˜‰

After all of the fun and sightseeing on Friday night, I did get up bright and squirrely for Saturday morning’s meetings and sessions. After I was finished for the day, I went to a looooovely place for lunch called Shady Grove, on Barton Springs Road – this place was FANTASTIC! πŸ™‚ Despite the blistering heat, I sat outside and thoroughly enjoyed my little table amongst the trees – and I was endlessly amused by the fact that the potties were located in Airstream-type trailers that had been renovated (however, Princess Dumbass of Idiot Island here couldn’t get the door to the Ladies potty open and was far too embarrassed to ask anyone for help, so sadly I can’t report about how cool they looked inside – but, based on everything else at this place, the loos were probably fab). Β The food was great, the outdoor bar was lovely, and I loved the vibe of this place – I so want to go back in the fall, and go and hear a band there some evening…I bet it will be FABULOUS!!!! πŸ™‚

I returned to San Antonio on Saturday evening, and while happy to be reunited with my Muppet…I missed Austin already. That city is so magical – it gets under my skin and into my heart like nobody’s business….perhaps I was an Austinite (Austiner??) in a past life…or maybe I am meant to be one in a future life?!?!?!? πŸ˜‰
