I made a visit recently to San Antonio nightspot ‘The Cove‘ – if you’re a local, have you been here yet? (probably – it seems I’m the last damn person in this town to sample ‘The Cove’) I absolutely LOOOOOOVED this place – let me tell you a bit about it! 🙂 From their website:
The Cove is a:
- Restaurant, serving SOL food. Sustainable, Organic, Local.
- Texas Beer Garden, with over 50 Texas beers on-tap
- Live Music venue, featuring local and traveling performers from every genre
- and oh yeah, a laundromat and carwash
The Cove is all about having a good time and enjoying great food with friends and family. We have a playscape, ping-pong tables, and a basketball backboard for kids of all ages, and a dog run for your four-legged friends. Come find out why this is the place to be in San Antonio!
This is a very interesting, cool-looking place – the decor is awesome, and the people were all really friendly. There was certainly an eclectic mix of people there, and thankfully nobody seemed to be wearing their pretentious pants, so all was good! 🙂 I sat inside on my first visit, but fully intend to take in the outdoors the next time around, which I hope is super-soon – the ambiance outside is fantastic! 🙂
On my visit, I was DELIGHTED (okay – let’s keep it real, here…I was OVER THE FREAKING MOON!!!!!!) to discover not one, not two, but THREE Canadian beers on their menu!! Woohooo!!! Of course, I had a Molson Canadian (or two) – but they also offered Labatt Blue and Moosehead (which is so damn good – I’d nearly forgotten the glorious taste of Moosehead)! Yaa! 🙂 They had a ton of other great beers (over 50 on tap, I believe!), including the Shiner Ruby Redbird which I had sampled at Fiesta this year (and LOVED): Shiner Ruby Redbird is brewed with genuine Texas Ruby Red Grapefruit, the signature sweet citrus of the Rio Grande Valley, and ginger. This lager beer features grapefruit tartness and finishes with a ‘lil kick of ginger. With Texas Ruby Red Grapefruit and ginger, Shiner Ruby Redbird is sure to be a crisp and refreshing summer beer. Yummy! 🙂 Their food menu had a lot of interesting things on it – I ended up opting for the Seafood Sampler, which came with a fish taco (which I believe they are known for), a shrimp taco, and a spinach salad on the side. This was a FANTASTIC choice – my food was AMAZING!!! 🙂 The fish taco was the best I’d ever had, hands down – but oh lordy, that shrimp taco was definitely infused with the tears of angels and a slice of heaven….wowza! Delish!!! 🙂 Yummy!!!! 🙂 I HIGHLY recommend that – and I can’t wait to go back and have another! Yummy! 🙂
Here are some pictures from ‘The Cove’:
‘The Cove’ is a great venue for local music, and while I missed that whole part of the experience the night I was there, I’m determined to take part next time. They also host wine tasting evenings, beer samplings, and other events as well. If I was ever to own a watering hole (which I’ve always thought would be an awesome retirement job), this is the kind of place I would love to have. Fabulous! 🙂
